Impacts of Migration and Immigration on Disease Transmission Dynamics in Heterogeneous Populations

چکیده
Population migration and immigration have greatly increased the spread and transmission of many infectious diseases at a regional, national and global scale. To investigate quantitatively and qualitatively the impact of migration and immigration on the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases, especially in heterogeneous host populations, we incorporate immigration/migration terms into all sub-population compartments, susceptible and infected, of two types of well-known heterogeneous epidemic models: multistage models and multi-group models for HIV/AIDS and other STDs. We show that, when migration or immigration into infected sub-population is present, the disease always becomes endemic in the population and tends to a unique asymptotically stable endemic equilibrium P ∗. The global stability of P ∗ is established under general and biological meaningful conditions, and the proof utilizes a global Lyapunov function and the graph-theoretic techniques developed in Guo et al. (2008).

An epidemic model for the transmission dynamics of HIV/AIDS with different clinical stages
In this paper, a five–dimensional mathematical model is proposed for the transmission dynamics of HIV/AIDS within a population of varying size. In writing the model, we have divided the population under consideration into five sub classes of susceptible, infective, pre-AIDS, AIDS related complex and that of AIDS patients. The model has two non- negative equilibria namely, a disease free and the...

Migration as a human phenomenon has some consequences and repercussions. One of these effects is crime commitment and inducing disturbance in land and national security in immigrants' residence country, in other word, international migration, especially illegal migration, have different penal-security effects. Khuzestan province and other western provinces of the country have been mostly affected by the impacts of the imposed war of Iraq against Iran and due to this impact have experienced special changes. As one of these changes, we could mention the phenomenon of the migration. These areas have experienced different forms of migrations such as exterior, interior, return migration and even the accep...
متن کاملElite migration and its relationship to development: Opportunities and challenges for policymakers
Introduction:Elite and efficient human resources play a vital role in the various national arenas and, therefore, their good management is crucial. Elite migration or brain drain among developing countries is of great importance, as these countries lose more capital in the process of international human capital flows, and their development is usually slowed by this phenomenon. The main purpose ...

Alternative theoretical perspectives have been presented to explain internationally effective factors affecting immigration. For example, the orthodox explanation of migration is based on the concept of wage differentials as an important factor of international immigration. The world system approach declines to interpret theoretically international migration as a phenomenon between independent ...
